Guys. We have SO MANY amazing bloggers sewing a long with us this episode! We're so international.

This month is all about studio Ghibli! Studio Ghibli is the cornerstone of our movie collection at the Sew Chibi household.  For those of you wondering what the heck I'm talking about, Studio Ghibli is basically Japanese Disney, and the creator of most of the movies is a man by the name of Hayao Miyazaki.  A virtuoso of animation and storytelling, Miyazaki's movies are, in a word, e n c h a n t i n g.   Some of the most popular films are My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke but there are many many more. Our offerings this month include some delightful guests!  Check out a little of what they’ve done below and be sure to check out the full posts on all of our blogs, plus a couple of giveaways!

Episode 5: Marvel vs DC

This month's Sew Geeky theme is MARVEL VS DC! It's an age old battle since the dawn of time, which is better Marvel or DC Comics? To tell you the truth we don't think it needs to be a contest, they're both comics and if you're into either then you're pretty rad in our (comic)book.

However in saying that, Ari is a die-hard DC Girl! What about you? Who's your favourite superhero or super villain? Why? Read on to see our heroic lineup and see what our villainous creations this month! We had a lot of fun with our line up extraordinary guests!

Check out Ari's almost literal Deadpool outfit for Vin and the Aquaman inspired outfit for Eddie

Episode 3: Tank Girl

Listen up, cause I'm only telling you this once. I'm not a bedtime story lady, so pay attention. It's 2033. The world is *screwed* now. You see, a while ago this humongous comet came crashing into the earth. Bam! total devastation. End of the world as we know it. No celebrities, no cable TV, no water. It hasn't rained in 11 years! Now 20 people gotta squeeze inside the same bathtub - so it ain't all bad...

Most of our themes are planned months and months in advance, however there are a few -spare- months where we don't really know what we want to do yet. Tank Girl was totally a last minute decision for us as we played with June's Sew Geeky themes. Mostly we'd been sewing for the kids, but we felt it was time for the adults to play! And play we did! Tank Girl is rude, crude and hilarious. She's a lot of fun and you can definitely tell we all really enjoyed sewing for this theme (like we do every theme really, lol)

Betty joined in with a joint shoot with her sister Ari which was LOADS of fun! She made up a Sub Girl outfit, it can even double as corporate-wear believe it or not!

Our second guest was Kelley from Casa Crafty! She worked it as Jet Girl, and you'll have to click through to see her sons' rad outfits too!

Check out Kat's rockin' Tank Girl mama outfit over on Sew Chibi. The outfit rules, but the poses are are just insanely amazing. So are the breastfeeding photos!

And bringing up the rear as the second Tank Girl is Ari, ya know, dangling off tanks and what not...

Episode 2: Star Wars

These are the droids you're looking for.

Well, okay maybe calling our children droids is a little too much, but these are the children you're looking for and they're pretty darn cute! Obviously Star Wars is a massive part of both our lives. We frequently converse to each other in Star Wars quotes and coming up with just one thing was really difficult because our lists for things we want to make inspired by the Star Wars universe is as about 12 parsecs long. Choosing a guest for our comeback Sew Geeky (episode 2!) wasn't too difficult because although several of our blogger mama friends are epic Star Wars nuts, Tara of Girl like the Sea was a bit of a no brainer!

It had been a full year since we had first gone live with our Sew Geeky adventure, and because life does that thing where it gets in the way and does things that are pretending to be more important than sewing amazing nerdy clothing for ourselves and our children we had it on a temporary hiatus until May the Fourth of this year (2014)! What else do you do on Star Wars Day than post about Star Wars?!

The three of us ended up stitching some pretty fun things, ranging from the literal to the puntastic to the inspired-by. Want to see(3PO)?

Azriella became the prettiest Imperial Guard ever, you have to click through to see the FULL outfit and not just this epic PVC dress!

Our guest Tara had us in stitches with all the Star Wars puns and as we threw ideas backward and forward we're super pleased she went with the Bow Tie Fighter tee for Vi!

And check out Little Luke and his sister Leia over on Max California. There was such a kerfuffle about which Luke and which Leia but the little dude wanted to be Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker (robot hands win everytime you guys, jsyk) while Eddie was classic Leia Organa.

Episode 1: 8 Bit Babies

At the dawn of time there was two girls named Kat and Ari who had become BFF when Ari stumbled upon Kat's blog and somehow thought that Kat came from Australia also. Ari had left a couple of comments on Kat's blog, but the more she trawled the archives the more excited she got. She didn't care that it was kind of creepy, she was going to fly over to Western Australia (guys, don't ask. I don't even know why I thought this) and they were going to become bff.

Okay, so the BFF part happened, but unfortunately for Ari she was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy way off. Kat didn't live in Australia at all, so the thoughts of just randomly jumping on a plane were going to have to go on hold for a little while. HOWEVER, the two became quick friends. With similar parenting styles, love of sewing and creating and being a little rebellious and bratty they soon discovered they were also mega nerds. We're not talking "Awww look at the cute little Chewbacca toy, he's so fluffy! I love Star Trek" type nerdy, no we are talking almost hyperventilating and crying when trying to convey a piece of nerdy news love to the other one. We're not elitists, though, you can love a fandom and not be a jerk about it to others who may not know as much as you. We embrace everyone, no matter what level of geekdom (and if you think Chewbacca is from Star Trek that's okay, I still love you).

So long story short, we decided to combine our love of being super dorks into a fun sewing series! We came up with the idea in the middle of 2012, but shortly after Ari was asked to compete in season 6 of Project Run & Play! It was exciting and fun, but Sew Geeky had to be on pause for a little bit. It had its chance to shine though, on one of the geekiest days of the year: May 25 - Geek Pride Day

Our first theme was 8 Bit Babies! A homage to the video games we liked to play as kids as well. Instead of going with the almost go-to Super Mario Brothers route, we went a little different!

Check out Kat's Nyan Cat and Tac Nayn here!

And please click through to see Ari's Sonic the Hedgehog and hilarious baby Amy Rose!
